Beyond what limits does the medium light leads you in your artistic work?
I am interested in light in my work insofar as it relates to colour. Colour is my principal interest and colour as it occurs in the city in particular. Illuminated colour has been one of the defining forms of colour in the city for the last century, so illuminated colour plays a significant role in my work. In particular I am interested in how this type of colour works after dusk, and thus several of my works combine vivd colour with areas of darkness. Magic Hour (2004-07) is one such work, and some of these ideas are also explored in my short book The Luminous and the Grey.
